About House and Barn
The House
The house was purchased in 1998 and used as the museum with changing exhibits before the barn was built. It is now interpreting an 1860's house. There are rare artifacts through out the house. There are also two small exhibit rooms upstairs.
Handicap Accessibility
The house is handicap accessible to the first floor only.
The house bathroom facility is not wheelchair accessible.
The barn is completely accessible with ADA bathrooms and kitchen.
The Barn
The barn is used for rotating exhibits, permanent local Civil War exhibit, meeting/event space, and climate controlled storage.
When the long-range plan for AAMI was developed in 1999, one of the objectives was to provide the proper storage environment with climate control for the museum’s collections. The primary action plan to fulfill that goal was to build a separate curatorial storage facility.
Some of the considerations included in the concept were maintaining the historic integrity of the property, the aesthetics of placing another building in proximity to the 1860 house, and the stated purpose of AAMI which is to preserve, exhibit, and interpret, items that will serve to illustrate the history of the Borough of Greencastle and Antrim Township.
Exhibits and Meeting Space
The barn itself is an exhibit of German Bank barn architecture. The barn is completely air conditioned providing a constant temperature year round. The upper level provides exhibit, event, meeting and workshop areas. The storage area is located in the lower level.
The addition of the barn facility allows Allison-Antrim Museum to expand its programs and become more of an integral part of the Greencastle-Antrim community by strengthening its partnership with the school district and helping to increase the economic vitality of the area.
Ebbert Springs
Ebbert Spring Archaeological Preserve & Heritage Park
On August 30, 2017, Andy Stout, Greencastle native and Eastern Regional Director of The Archaeological Conservancy (TAC), and Bonnie Shockey, President & CEO, on behalf the board of directors of Allison-Antrim Museum, Inc (AAMI), signed a 99-year lease between TAC and AAMI, which transfers the care of the standing structures, within the Ebbert Spring Archaeological Preserve & Heritage Park, to Allison-Antrim Museum.
The property is a dawn to dusk park.

- Working with high school students in the community service program & giving the Ronald L Sodoma Memorial Scholarship to a graduating senior
- Offering state university internships

- Being an affiliate of the PA German Society, with emphasis on our PA-German heritage and history, via all the PGS publications and annual books, in the Barnes Library.
- Having an elected directorship position on the State board of PA Museums & a County-appointed seat on the Franklin County Visitors Bureau
- Hosting “Barn Dine Arounds” & bus tours from in and out of state, including the Smithsonian Institute
- The annual May tea in the barn and Make Your Own Christmas Ornament

- Providing wages for staff personnel, while providing free admission to the museum with wide-ranging rotating exhibits and special events.

- Caring for Collections and standing structures, such as the Ebbert Springs Archaeological Collection at the Ebbert Spring Archaeological Preserve and Heritage Park.
